White Plains, NY – The Global Directory of Who’s Who proudly honors Dr. Melvyn Grovit, a distinguished Board-Certified Nutrition Specialist and Doctor of Podiatric Medicine, for his exceptional career spanning over four decades in Podiatric medicine, Nutrition research, and academic leadership. A 1961 graduate of the New York College of Podiatric Medicine (NYCPM), Dr. Grovit completed a fellowship at Jewish Memorial Hospital in 1965 and earned a Master of Science in Biology with certification in human nutrition from the University of Bridgeport. His training included mentorship from faculty at the Columbia University Institute of Human Nutrition.
Dr. Grovit served in numerous prestigious roles during his tenure, including Adjunct Associate Research Scientist and Clinical Nutritionist at Columbia University Medical Center and Sidney Solid Distinguished Professor Emeritus at NYCPM. He held key leadership positions such as Chairman of the Department of Medical Sciences, Chief of the Podiatric Medicine Clinics of New York, and Director of the Emergency Response Team at FCNY. Now in private practice, Dr. Grovit integrates clinical nutrition into the treatment of diverse clinical disorders. His career has been marked by numerous awards, reflecting his unwavering commitment to Podiatric medicine and clinical nutrition and advancement to patient care. Dr, Grovit is a trained musician and his talent is expressed as a saxophonist.
About Dr. Melvyn Grovit DPM, MS, CNS
Dr. Grovit was formerly Adjunct Associate Research Scientist and a clinical nutritionist at Columbia University Medical Center. He is currently in private practice integrating clinical nutrition into the management of diverse clinical disorders. He is Sidney Solid Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine (NYCPM). Dr. Grovit was a Board Certified podiatrist and held numerous leadership positions at NYCPM over his forty- year career at that institution. He was Professor and Chairman of the Department of Medical Sciences and Chief of the Foot Clinics of New York (FCNY) as well as Director of the Emergency Response Team at FCNY.He has received numerous academic and leadership awards during his career including a Leadership Award from the Certification Board for Nutrition Specialists, Outstanding Service Award from the American College of Nutrition, NYCPM Award for Contributions to the Advancement of Podiatric Medical Education, Student Leadership and Excellence in Teaching Award at NYCPM, Distinguished Alumnus Award from NYCPM, Stephen Seifer Good Fellow Award from NYCPM, Recognition Award From Jewish Memorial Hospital for Contributions to the Advancement of Podiatric Medicine. Dr. Grovit was Chairman of Podiatric Medicine and Podiatric Medical Residency Education at Jewish Memorial Hospital (JMH) in New York City and a member of the JMH Medical Board. Dr. Grovit has served as Chairman of the Certification Board for Nutrition Specialists and Board Member of the New York State Board for Dietetics and Nutrition. He is currently a member and former Chairman of the Examination Development Committee for the Certification Board for Nutrition Specialists and a member of the New York State Board for Dietetics and Nutrition Peer Panel.Dr. Grovit developed Crohn's disease as a teenager and because of his extraordinary early life experience with this disease and its complications, he was inspired to develop nutrition protocols targeted to inflammatory bowel diseases (Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis.) Early on, Dr. Grovit recognized the significance of optimal nutrition for IBD in the form of personalized diet modifications, targeted nutraceutical and specific probiotic administration. He received an academic grant from the American Podiatric Medical Association for the graduate study of human nutrition. Trained by faculty of the Columbia University Institute of Human Nutrition and the University of Bridgeport Institute of Nutrition, he received his Master of Science degree in Biology with certification in human nutrition in 1986.
