Dr. Carlson’s educational background includes undergraduate studies at Butler University, graduate studies in neuroanatomy at the University of Florida, and medical training at University Health Sciences, Antigua, followed by his residency at Bayfront Medical Center Family Practice Residency in St. Petersburg, Florida. Prior to becoming a physician, he spent more than 17 years as a physician assistant in cardiovascular medicine, bringing extensive clinical experience to his practice.
In addition to his patient care responsibilities, Dr. Carlson serves as a ringside physician for the Florida Athletic Commission and has held numerous hospital leadership roles, including positions on Medical Executive Committees, Chief of Medicine, Chief of Staff, and Boards of Trustees at two hospitals. Recognized for his excellence in healthcare, Dr. Carlson has received numerous honors, including induction into the Florida Boxing Hall of Fame (2025), the Vitals Compassionate Doctor Award, Cigna Healthcare 2022 Top Performing Provider, and selection as a Top Doctor for 2026.
